Sotheby’s London Fine Jewels Sale Nets $5M

Sotheby’s London sale of jewels fetched $4.8 million (GBP 3.1 million) and was 78 percent sold by lot and 84 percent sold by value. The top lot was a gem-set desk clock by Cartier that fetched $122,719 (GBP 79,250).

Other top sellers included a diamond parure ‘Spiga’ by Bulgari that sold for $120,860, and a gold, enamel, gem-set and diamond brooch by Boucheron that fetched $117,144.

A 4.45 carat, K, square step-cut diamond set with brilliant-cut stones garnered $111,569, or around $25,071 per carat, and a 12.03 carat, L, step-cut diamond set onto an engraved band realized $104,137, or $8,656 per carat. A diamond corsage by Tiffany & Co. sold for $98,562 while an emerald and diamond pendant and three natural pearl and diamond necklaces both achieved $76,264.
