Oval Cut Diamonds

The oval shape diamond is an elongated modification of the round brilliant cut diamond and is ideally proportioned at a ratio of 1:1.5. Although very similar to the round brilliant cut diamond the oval shape tends to have a much lower popularity and should really be purchased with a high quality cut to improve the scintillation. Like the pear and marquise cut diamonds the oval also exhibits the shadowed “bow tie” effect across the central area of the diamond. The oval cut diamond is best displayed in multiple stone dress rings like three stone combinations or diamond halo designs.
