Nordstrom Celebrates One Holiday at a Time

Bucking the common trend of decorating retail stores for Christmas in November, luxury retailer Nordstrom is holding-fast on its tradition of keeping the trees and ornaments off their store floors until Black Friday.

Big box retailers JCPenney, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Saks and Target have not only dressed out their stores for Christmas already, but are actively promoting holiday sales, pre-Black Friday sales, and some have announced plans to open for shoppers just after Thanksgiving dinner.

Spokespeople for Nordstrom, though, have been telling the press their long standing policy is in place again this year: “We won’t be decking our halls until Friday,” the day after Thanksgiving, “Why? Well, we just like the idea of celebrating one holiday at a time.”
