Namakwa Diamonds appointed Melissa Sturgess as new senior independent, non-executive director. Sturgess will replace Alex Davidson who is stepping down from his role to focus on other interests.
Sturgess has an extensive background in corporate management, development and financing with resource companies listed in the U.K. and Australia. She was notably a driving force behind the growth and development of Nyota Minerals.
The company also said that deputy chairman and non-executive director Tom Kruger retired from the board. Kruger has been involved in the South African diamond industry for more than 30 years and was a founding member of the South African Rough Dealers’ Association. His worldwide network of contacts with major diamantaires has played a significant role in the growth and development of the company over the years.
