In the end it was worth the wait. Seven years and six kids later, Brad Pitt has presented Angelina Jolie with a massive diamond ring to seal their long-awaited engagement.
The couple confirmed on Friday that they are engaged to marry after the actress was seen wearing a huge diamond on her engagement ring finger at a viewing of the Chinese collection at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Los Angeles last week.
The man behind the ring, which features a huge rectangular diamond custom cut and sized to fit Jolie’s hand, is jeweler Robert Procop, former chief executive officer of Asprey & Garrard. Procop collaborated with Pitt for a year to design the perfect ring for Jolie.
“Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration,” Procop told the Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the story. “He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina’s hand.”
Procop added that Pitt was heavily involved throughout the process, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are especially cut to encircle her finger with each diamond of the highest gem quality, he explained.
Procop, who has stores in Beverly Hills, Geneva and Hong Kong features a jewelry collection called “The Style of Jolie,” which he designed together with the actress. He has also designed a number of Jolie’s red carpet jewels in addition to some of the pieces that she wore in the movie The Tourist.
